Collaborative Design & Development
InnovationSpace is an entrepreneurial joint venture among the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, W.P. Carey School of Business and the School of Sustainability at Arizona State University. The goal of this transdisciplinary education and research lab is to teach students how to develop products that create market value while serving real societal needs and minimizing impacts on the environment. Put simply, we seek to create products and services that are progressive, possible and profitable. At the same time, they must have a meaningful impact on the everyday lives of people. Each team is formed of 5 interdisciplinary students (Visual Communication, Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Business and Sustainability).
After the team branding is complete, each team begins to research on their specific problem. Team Kioro was tasked with the problem of creative collaboration in the workplace and/or eduacational environments. After a semester of research, each team presents 3 different solutions (product concepts).
Concept 1 – flourish – with Ocia
Concept 2 – streamline – with Movens
Concept 3 – harmonize – with Syncta
The second semester begins by selecting the strongest concept of the 3 presented, in Kioro’s case, Movens was selected to focus on for the remainder of the semester.
